2023 CMA Awards: Lainey Wilson Leads the Way With Five Awards

Lainey Wilson came into this year’s Country Music Association Awards with nine nominations, and she lived up to the high expectations. Wilson was crowned as the biggest winner of the night with five awards, including entertainer of the year.

Wilson had to beat tough competition in Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, and Morgan Wallen to be named entertainer of the year at this year’s CMA Awards. To make the whole thing even more impressive, she also won a trophy for album of the year with Bell Bottom Country.

Wilson also defeated Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, and Carly Pearce to be named the female vocalist of the year. She picked up two more awards with her Hardy collaboration “Wait in the Truck”: music video of the year and musical event of the year.

It was also a big night for Luke Combs’, whose cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” was one of the most decorated songs of the night. It won the trophy for single of the year and song of the year, but Combs ended up losing the award for male vocalist of the year to Chris Stapleton.

The 2023 Country Music Association Awards took place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on November 8, with Luke Bryan with Peyton Manning hosting the show.

Carrie Underwood Won’t Be Hosting CMA Awards in 2020

Carrie Underwood has hosted the Country Music Association Awards for the past 12 years, but she’s ready to pass down the torch. The singer announced she’ll be stepping down as CMAs host, because she can’t imagine topping the latest ceremony.

Underwood co-hosted the show alongside Brad Paisley from 2008 to 2018, but this year was different. She was joined on stage by country legends Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, and she thinks things can’t get any better than that.

“I’m so incredibly grateful to everyone involved with the CMA Awards all these years. It’s hard to imagine topping what we have accomplished together, so I’ve decided that it’s time to pass the hosting torch (at least for now!) to others that will cherish it and honor it as much as I do,” wrote Underwood on Instagram.

The “Cry Pretty” singer ended her announcement on a high note, and said she has many exciting things coming in the new year and beyond.

Her debut book, titled Find Your Path, is set to be released in March, and we’re yet to see if the rest of her new projects are music-related.

One of the highlights of 2019 and of my entire career so far was being on stage with the legends that are Reba and Dolly Parton. I’m so proud that we could celebrate the incredible female artists that are part of the legacy of country music, past, present and future, and I’m thankful for the huge audiences all over the world that tuned in to see it. Carrie Underwood Set to Host 2019 CMA Awards Alongside Two Country Icons

Many award ceremonies are struggling to find a host these days, but not the CMA Awards! Carrie Underwood will take on this role again this year, alongside country legends Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton.

Sarah Trahern, CMA chief executive officer, couldn’t wait to share the incredible news with the public and said it’s an honor to welcome these three country superstars to the CMA Awards stage this year.

“In addition to awarding the year’s best and brightest in the genre, The 53rd Annual CMA Awards will celebrate the legacy of women within Country Music, and we couldn’t think of a more dynamic group of women to host the show,” said Trahern in a press release.

Carrie Underwood is no stranger to hosting the Country Music Association Awards since she’s been doing this alongside fellow country singer Brad Paisley since 2008. This will be the first time we’ll get to see her sharing the stage with someone else, and we can’t wait to see what that looks like when the CMA Awards air on ABC on November 13th.
