]]> Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin recently made a virtual appearance on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest and delivered a nice surprise to the TV audience. Instead of playing one of his own songs, Martin decided to perform a cover of Bob Dylan’s classic “Shelter from the Storm.”

The latest SNL episode was entirely shot remotely due to ongoing health crisis, with both guests and cast members taking part in the show from their homes. The episode was hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks.

Martin delivered a stripped-down rendition of the song, using only an acoustic guitar to complement his voice. His performance ended up being captured in a black-and-white music video. Check it out below.

“Shelter from the Storm” was part of Bob Dylan’s seminal record Blood on the Tracks, released in 1975, and remains one of the artist’s most recognizable tracks. The song was covered on multiple occasions in the past, with acts like Cassandra Wilson, Rodney Crowell, and even actor Bill Murray delivering their own versions.
