]]>Awaken, My Love! was Gambino’s third studio album and ended up getting praise from the critics, and being nominated for Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album at Grammy Awards, while single “Redbone” received the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. Despite his musical success, Donald Glover said in June 2017 that he will retire Childish Gambino moniker after he releases the fourth album. He said that he feels his music career is no longer “necessary” adding that “there’s nothing worse than like a third sequel”.
In case he retires from music, Glover will still be kept pretty busy with his acting career. His FX comedy-drama Atlanta was renewed for season two after the first season received universal critical acclaim. He is also working on an animated series based on Marvel’s superhero character Deadpool, and several movie projects including upcoming The Lion King remake.
