Back in late March, Charli XCX hinted that she is using the time in isolation during the coronavirus pandemic to be productive. She first promised several new songs, but now decided to make a full album from scratch.

“I’m going to use this isolation time to make a brand new album from scratch,” she said in a video posted on social media. “I’m only going to be able to use the tools I have at my fingertips to create all music, all artwork, all videos… everything—in that sense, it’ll be very DIY.”

Shortly after making the announcement, the “Break the Rules” singer shared an instrumental version for one of her new songs.

Charli XCX released her most recent studio album Charli back in 2019. The release had 15 songs and featured a number of contributing acts include Troye Sivan, Lizzo, and Haim. It peaked at No.42 on US Billboard, while reaching No.14 on UK Charts. The album was also well received by the critics, who praised the production and songwriting.

The record will contain 15 tracks, including the two previously released singles “1999” and “Blame It on Your Love.” It will see Charli XCX collabing with several notable music acts including Christine and the Queens, Lizzo, Clairo, Pabllo Vittar, CupcakKe, Brooke Candy, Yaeji, and many others.

Following the release of her new album, Charli XCX will embark on a world tour which will see her playing headlining shows in North America, United Kingdom, and Europe. She will start the journey on September 20^th in Atlanta and will tour the U.S. and Canada until late October. The UK and Europe leg of the tour will kick off on October 27^th in Glasgow and will run for a month with the final show being scheduled on November 28^th in Moscow. See the full dates below.

Charli XCX’s last studio release came in 2014 when she presented Sucker. In the meantime she also released two mixtapes, Number 1 Angel and Pop 2, both of which came in 2017
