Certified Lover Boy was originally supposed to be released back in January 2021, but it was postponed due to an unspecified surgery.

Drake added a new verse to “Betrayal” on Trippie Redd’s album earlier this month, which may be poking fun at West. “All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know/ Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go/ Ye ain’t changin’ shit for me, it’s set in stone,” the verse goes.

Just last week, Drake released a teaser for the album’s release. The teaser was shown during the ESPN show SportsCenter and it showed college football that was interrupted by a figure holding a sign reading, “CLB September 3.”

The album was set for a January 2021 release date, but was postponed after the rapper suffered from a knee injury.

While speaking on OVO Sound Radio, the rapper confirmed that the album was “currently being chef’d in every way possible” and that he’s been working with regular collaborators Noel Cadastre and Noah “40” Shebib.

“I don’t have an exact date, but it’s in the pot and it’s coming soon,” he said.

Drake previously told DJ and US radio host Akademiks that “it’s going to be dropping before April so he’s not waiting until summer to drop his shit. I don’t wanna say before April… April or before.”

Drake surprised fans with a release of his Scary Hours 2 EP which includes three songs including “What’s Next”, “Wants and Needs” with Lil Baby, and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” with Rick Ross.

Last month Drake collaborated with Drakeo The Ruler on the latter’s song “Talk To Me”.
