]]>The Libertines released their last studio album, Anthems for Doomed Youth, back in 2015. Now, frontman Carl Barât has confirmed that he and Pete Doherty have already got their studio sessions scheduled.
“We’ve been down and done a few writing sessions already,” Barât revealed. “But we’re going to sort of bed in and do something a bit less control freak this time, rather doing lots and compiling and seeing what’s working and what isn’t. But there will be quite a few stories around the corner I think.”
The band also recently launched their own hotel in Margate in the UK called Albion Rooms. Regarding the hotel’s status, Barât said: “I’ve got more ideas and ambitions than I could possibly ever achieve. You know, I think the art is not spreading yourself too thin. I spent two years trying to get this hotel, gallery, studio up and running… We are really close now, actually.”

]]>“I tend to lock myself away in my little bunker as I can be lazy, I can’t work under the pressure of thinking I need to write a f***ing hit,” he said in a recent interview. “I’ve got a lot of ideas for this album. Ones which I need to chat about with the boys.”
Drummer Gary Powell recently spoke about the band’s fourth studio album as well, saying that the fans will be treated with the familiar sound they love.
“The last thing in the world we would attempt to do would be to reinvent the wheel,” – said Powell. “We have our own identity, and we’ll stick to our own identity as much as we can do. It’s made us who we are. But having said that, there is an opportunity for us to investigate and to investigate new approaches to what we do.”
According to the band’s previous updates on social media, The Libertines are currently recording fourth studio album at their studio in Margate hotel The Albion Rooms.
Formed in 1997, The Libertines quickly rose to fame as one of Britain’s most exciting rock bands. They achieved major success with first two studio albums, 2002’s Up the Bracket and 2004’s The Libertines, but ended up splitting due to various inner conflicts.
The band members settled their differences in 2010 when they reunited for shows at Reading and Leeds Festivals. They officially got back together in 2014, releasing their third studio album, Anthems For Doomed Youth, a year later.
