While other musicians are doing online shows during coronavirus pandemic, Blink-182’s founder and bassist Mark Hoppus is helping fans settle some never-ending debates. Challenged by record label Smartpunk, Hoppus recently presented an ultimate Blink-182’s best songs bracket in which he declared 2003’s single “Feeling This” their best work to date.

Smartpunk first tried to fill the bracket themselves but realized that is a lot more challenging than it seemed. So, they turned to Hoppus for help.

Hoppus was quick to respond, filling out the bracket in “two minutes.” Choosing between prominent singles and fan favorites, he narrowed down a list of 64 songs to “Dammit,” “I Miss You,” “All the Small Things,” “Rock Show,” “What’s My Age Again,” “First Date,” “Feeling This,” and “Adam’s Song.”

After beating out “I Miss You” in the finals, “Feeling This” ended up taking the throne.

As he noted in the tweet, Hoppus didn’t shy away from arguing with those who disagreed. When someone questioned his choice of “Adam’s Song” over “Stay Together for the Kids,” he responded: “It’s a free country and you’re allowed to be shamefully wrong.”

He also explained some of his reasoning for picking “Feeling This” by tweeting:  “That magic-in-a-bottle feeling. It’s the apex of blink-182. The best of all of us. It was different and new and (in my opinion) groundbreaking.”

Earlier this year, Netflix dropped the Fyre Festival documentary and everyone went wild when they learned just how bad the whole shenanigans really was. In the documentary, it was revealed that Blink 182 were one of the first headliners to pull out which cause a domino effect of other bands pulling out last minute.

Now, frontman Mark Hoppus has revealed what it was like to be put in such a shocking situation and why the band decided to pull out.

“It was pretty shocking,” Hoppus told NME about his experience watching the documentary. “It was shocking but not entirely surprising. We had indications kind of early on that there were problems. Our production crew was having problems getting even the most basic of answers as to staging, power and things that you would normally have well in advance of the show. That being said, us and our crew have always prided ourselves on being able to put on a good show.”

He continued: “If you give us electricity and a stage then we will do our best to put on a great show. We continued in good faith, the show got closer and closer. Travis [Barker, drums] doesn’t fly so he was going to have to get on a boat for several days to get there then our production crew just said, ‘I don’t think that this is going to happen, I think we should pull out now’. That’s when we issued our statement.”

Tom DeLonge left Blink 182 for a pretty admirable reason… he wants to change the world.

The co-founder and bassist of everyone’s favorite pop punk band co-founded To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science and has recently left the band to make this his sole priority.

The description on the official website reads: “To The Stars Academy strives to be a powerful vehicle for change by creating a consortium among science, aerospace, and entertainment that will work collectively to allow gifted researchers the freedom to explore exotic science and technologies with the infrastructure and resources to rapidly transition them to products that can change the world.”

Now, DeLonge has explained why the project is so important to him and why it means having to let go of Blink 182.

“The last show I played was in front of 100,000 people,” DeLonge said in an interview. “And then they wonder why I’m not doing that now and I’ll say because this is the one moment in my life where I’ll be able to look back as an old man and say, ‘Oh my god, I was a part of the team that changed the world.’”

He also explained: “I wanted to make a quick message to let you know that, from the heart, I left my band and all that I was known for because this is the moment in time where I can change the world for my kids and everybody else’s.”

He added: “I would love for you to consider doing that with us.”

We finally received some update on Blink-182’s new LP thanks to the band’s bassists Mark Hoppus. According to Hoppus, who recently had a chat with Kerrang!, the rock/punk trio is currently working on the for the album which should be a lot different than their fans might expect.

“After playing in this band for 27 years, I want to push it and do different things and take blink to places where we haven’t been before, ” Hoppus told Kerrang!. “We’re really trying to do that on the new record. We want to do with our band what we did in 2003 with Untitled, where we take our foundations and go off in completely weird directions.”

The 46-year-old added that he, drummer Travis Baker and guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba are writing new songs and spend a lot of time in the studio.

“We’re in the studio all the time,” – he said. “That’s the thing, our main bands are our main focus and will always be. We all have our outside interests and our outside things, but we’re pretty straightforward with one another; blink really is everybody’s priority and that’s understood among all of us.”

After founding member Tom DeLonge left Blink-182 in 2015, Mark Hoppus and Travis Baker decided to recruit Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba to replace him and record a new album with them. The new formation released their first studio effort in 2016 when they presented California. Despite the mixed reviews from the critics, the album was well received by the audience and ended up topping charts in several countries including the United States and the United Kingdom.

Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus has revealed that his band’s new material sounds like Take Off Your Pants and Jacket.

Last month, the pop-punk icons released images on social media and revealed that they are back in the studio working on new material.

While no dates have been given as to when fans can expect to treat themselves to new material, Hoppus did provide an update.

He wrote on Twitter: “Early days still but the newest blink-182 songs sound like they pick up where Take Off Your Pants and Jacket left off.”

The fact that the new material could sound like Take Off Your Pants and Jacket will certainly be good for Blink die-hards. Released in 2001, that album produced classical Blink songs such as ”First Date,” ”The Rock Show” and ”Stay together for the Kids.”

Blink 182 vocalist Matt Skiba has opened up about his skin care tips, which help him look young.

Skiba opened up after a fan commented on his healthy-looking skin.

“Alba Botanicals pineapple enzyme Hawaiian facial scrub, drink lots of water, and get a lil sun,” Skiba says of his skin routine. “I just wash my face twice a day in the am and before bed and don’t moisturize. That’s just me tho.”

Skiba adds, “Oh, and a twice-weekly bath in the blood of virgins,” seemingly highlighting the importance of an apparent blood ritual in his quest for the best skin care. “I usually end up drinking it but that’s just me,” he explains.

Skiba who is also frontman of the band Alkaline Trio has been with Blink 182 since 2015.

He joined the band after Tom Delonge left the band to pursue other endeavors. Blink, who are veterans of the pop-punk genre, are reportedly now in the studio working on new material.

Barker went on to post a picture of himself and Hoppus staring into the eyes of each other, and it appeared that they were both happy with the material that they are churning out.

Blink 182 in the studio

The last album the band released was 2016’s California, which was largely positively received.

California was the first Blink 182 album to feature vocals form Matt Skiba, who replaced Tom Delonge.

Blink 182 are widely considered to be one of the best pop-punk bands of all-time and have released hits such as “All The Small Things,” “Rock Show,” “What’s My Age Again” and “Feeling this.”

The band are not the force that they were during their heyday in the early 2000’s, but they can still put up a good rock show and release good material as they proved in 2016 with California.

Popular pop-punk band Blink 182 are back in the studio working on new material.

Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker from the band both posted teasers on Snapchat of the band in the studio. Hoppus posted a snap of Barker drumming and captioned the image “New Blink-182 Songs, Day One.”

Barker went on to post a picture of himself and Hoppus staring into the eyes of each other, and it appeared that they were both happy with the material that they are churning out.
