]]>The song focuses on the recent Black Lives Matter movement after George Floyd was killed by a police officer and it’s about empowerment, “Rubber bullets bouncin’ off me / Made a picket sign off your picket fence,” she sings.
“Happy Juneteenth Weekend! I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength and power,” the singer wrote on Instagram in a post with the song.
“‘Black Parade’ celebrates you, your voice and your joy and will benefit Black-owned small businesses,” she continued.
On her website she wrote, “Being Black is your activism. Black excellence is a form of protest. Black joy is your right.” The proceeds from “Black Parade” will go towards BeyGOOD’s Black Business Impact Fund which supports Black-owned businesses.
Beyoncé’s husband Jay-Z co-wrote the song along with Akil “Fresh” King, Brittany Coney, Densia Andrews, Kim “Kadence” Krysiuk, Rickie “Caso” Tice, and Derek Dixie.
