The organizers of Download Festival are hoping next summer will be much more favorable for live music, which is why they prepared a mouth-watering lineup for the 2021 edition of the festival.

The three-day event is scheduled to kick off on June 4th with American legends Kiss serving as headliners. Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro will headline the next day, and heavy metal icons System Of A Down are closing the festival.

Kiss and System Of A Down were billed to headline the 2020 Download Festival before it was canceled due to coronavirus pandemic while Biffy Clyro stepped in for Iron Maiden, who was this year’s third headliner.

“We’re disappointed we weren’t able to make it over this year, but we’re looking forward to next,” said SOAD bassist Shavo Odadjian. “Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Mostly, we all just want to make sure everyone is provided with a safe and secure environment, so we were prepared to wait as long as we needed to.”

According to the official press release, next year’s lineup will host more than 70 bands. The lineup includes a variety of guitar music, from alternative rock and indie to metal, and features bands like Deftones, Korn, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Volbeat, Rise Against, Black Veil Brides, Gojira, A Day To Remember, Mastodon, and many others.

Biffy Clyro has revealed that they will be releasing their eighth studio album in the “first half” of 2020.

Following their soundtrack album Balance of Symmetry earlier this year, the rock band has promised that a new Biffy Clyro record is on the way. The news was revealed by bassist James Johnson in an interview with NME. Although he didn’t go into any specifics, he did humor the publication with an answer to the question of when the new album will be dropping.

Johnston told NME: “I think the first half of next year is vague enough! I can tell you that much without getting locked up. We’ve had the MTV Unplugged album and this year we had the Balance of Symmetry soundtrack album. By the time this record comes out, it’ll be three albums in three years and I think that’s quite a good return.”

Biffy Clyro is currently in the studio recording album number eight. Details to be shared when they are revealed.

Biffy Clyro has shared an update on album number eight and we’ve been told to expect “a lot more rocking.”

Earlier this year, Biffy Clyro shared their soundtrack album Balance, Not Symmetry. Although fans enjoyed the record, drummer Ben Johnston has since revealed that he was slightly disappointed with the album, describing it as “the least soundtrack-y soundtrack album that has ever been made.”

Now, the band is working on their eighth studio album and we’ve been told to expect “more rocking”.

“We’ve been out in LA with Rich Costey just getting album number eight together,” Johnston told NME. “It’s coming along nicely. It was nice to have a little break in the middle to come home, rock out and play some live shows.”

He continued: “It’s a work in progress and quite an overyielding beast at the moment, but we’ll get it into shape over the next few months.

“I meanת to be honest, the soundtrack album ended up being not particularly cinematic. To me, it was more like an album made by a bunch of different bands. There’s a lot of rock songs, verses and choruses on there. It’s probably the least soundtrack-y soundtrack album that has ever been made.”

“But, it’s definitely a lot more rocking on this album. It’s definitely a lot more rocking than ‘Ellipsis’ was,” he added. “Once again, we’re working with Rich Costey again so it will have that modern vibe to it.”

In the meantime, here’s the titular track from Balance, Not Symmetry which is out now.
