2019 is now and officially over. It’s been an action-packed year, and this has been reflected in the fantastic albums that came out during the year. Here’s a look at the best of the best.

10. Father of the Bride, Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend’s comeback album was a genre-spanning, riff-packed record that established the Cape Cod band’s place in the indie scene. Father of the Bride is a mature, creative album packed full of catchy tunes and great lyrics.

9. Assume Form, James Blake

James Blake’s Assume Form is a tender, passionate album containing some of Blake’s most gorgeous lyrics yet. “Lullaby For My Insomniac” is a particularly beautiful moment on the record that keeps listeners coming back for more.

8. Igor, Tyler The Creator

Igor was an unexpected surprise from the loud and boisterous Tyler The Creator. The record was just as colorful as his previous works, only this time there was more depth and a whole host of talented collaborators.

7. Nothing Great About Britain, Slowthai

Slowthai’s lyrics on Nothing Great About Britain shed a piercing light on a divided UK. Honest and cutting, the 2019 record pushed boundaries and sparked up discussion. A bold and brilliant rap album.

Now that June is coming to an end, it’s dawned on us that we are well into the second half of the year. It won’t be long until we start seeing horrendously premature Christmas countdowns cropping up as summer slips away from us in the blink of an eye.

To celebrate the year we’ve had so far, here’s a countdown of the ten best albums 2019 has bought us.

10. Social Cues (Cage The Elephant)

Let’s kick things off with the admirable rock album from alternative rock band, Cage The Elephant. Dynamic and grueling, Social Cues deserves its place on thist list.

9. When I Get Home (Solange)

Solange has truly established herself as a talented artist in her own right and makes it onto the list with her admirable R&B album When I Get Home.

8. Ventura (Anderson Paak)

Anderson Paak’s latest album was by no means his best, but it still ranks thanks to its creative mish-mash of R&B and hip-hop styles.

7. Father of the Bride (Vampire Weekend)

Vampire Weekend’s comeback album featured an expanded seven-person lineup and just under an hour’s worth of material.

6. IGOR (Tyler The Creator)

The summer R&B album is lyrically powerful and musically exciting. IGOR taps in at number six.
