]]>With the runtime of 12:20, “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album but This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time” isn’t even the longest song on New Blue Sun, but it’s pretty long by the Hot 100 standards. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 at 90, becoming the longest-ever song to make it to this chart, breaking the record previously held by Tool’s “Fear Inoculum” at 10:21.
André 3000 discussed this song in an interview with NPR, and explained he opted for such a quirky title because his new album is all “about wind and breathing.” All song titles on New Blue Song have a similarly long, and that’s not a coincidence.
“They were long on purpose because I knew if this album has no lyrics that I would try to give as much thought or information in the titles. And I have been going through a phase where I love these really long titles,” André 3000 told NPR.
André 3000’s debut solo album New Blue Sun hit the shelves on November 17, and it features eight compositions of experimental flute music.

]]>After months of anticipation, the country legend Dolly Parton finally dropped her highly-anticipated album Rockstar—and it was worth waiting for. Her first dive into the rock’n’roll genre is a worthy endeavor and it gave us many amazing collaborations, including the cover of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” feat. P!nk & Brandi Carlile.
It’s only fitting to kick off our list with an amazing girl power collaboration since it’s been an epic week for female vocalists overall. Some of our favorite pop and R&B girlies made it to our list this week, including Tate McRae with “Exes”, “Ari Lennox” with Get Close, and Reneé Rapp with “I Do”.
The rest of our list is equally impressive, so stick around to discover new music by the indie groups Bleachers and Boygenius, the new A-list remix of Tyla’s “Water”, and K-pop band Red Velvet’s new bop “Chill Kill”.

]]>Most people know André Benjamin aka André 3000 as a rapper, who gave us such iconic songs as “Hey Ya!” and “Ms. Jackson” during his time with Outkast. Those days are long behind him, and he’s now gearing up for the release of his debut album New Blue Sun, 17 years after leaving Outkast behind.
It’s important to note his debut album will be an instrumental jazz record that puts his abilities as a flutist front and center. He described it as “an entirely instrumental album centered around woodwinds” and “a celebratory piece of work in the form of a living, breathing, aural organism.”
New Blue Sun will feature eight tracks, with super-long titles that would put emo bands to shame, starting with “I Swear, I Really Wanted To Make A ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time.” André 3000 explained he opted for these titles because he wanted to have some fun with them since the songs on the album have no lyrics.
New Blue Sun will be released by Epic Records on November 17.
